Methodology

The methodology for estimation of live capacity of reservoir using remote sensing consists of following major task-

(1) Digital data base creation
(2) Estimation of water spread area
(3) Ground truth collection and verification.
(3) Calculation of reservoir capacity
(4) Comparison of result with previous surveys
(5) Estimation of live capacity loss due to sedimentation

Training
1. Training is being imparted to water resources department and public works department engineers through induction training and in service training.
2. Induction training contains 5 days training session of introduction to remote sensing, application of remote sensing in reservoir sedimentation. Application of remote sensing in crop mapping, browsing and ordering of satellite images on ISRO web site, introduction to GPS and GPS pathfinder office sotware and terra sync software, how to create data dictionary, introduction to DGPS, TBS software, mapping of DGPS data, GPS and DGPs hands on etc.
3. A national level training programme is planned in the year 2020-21 on the special request of Telangana state engineering research lab (TSERL) and Gujrat water resources department (GWRD). This training will be conducted on the topic "Remote sensing and DGPS technology".

 Special Achievement

1.) This division has bagged the consultancy work of "Sedimentation Assessment study of forty (40) reservoirs in India through remote sensing technique " awarded to REC (MERI), Nashik by CWC New Delhi.
