Since 1980 this organization is identifying potential hazards of large dams/canals and suggesting remedial measures. This organization performs the functions like follow up of Dam Safety Inspection Report, conducting inspections of large dams (pre/ post monsoon) & CD works, prescribing methods of dam and canal inspection, inspecting instruments in dams & gates, scrutiny of emergency action plan, checking of annual report on instrumentation etc. Besides this organization also carry out Dam break analysis and Study of flood lines.
